Changes In Life

© 1999 Ric Raftis

Well I suppose it's debatable whether this is "Bush Verse" or not. I decided to put it on the site though as it reflects the different lives we lead within the one life that we have. The photos were done as part of a photography assignment I had to do as a self portrait. Whilst I trust that the photos stand on their own, I wrote the verse to express more of my inner feelings about it all. It is published here in the hope that it may help others to understand what they may be going through, or have been through. For those of you that do understand - I thank you, for those of you that don't understand because you haven't been through anything like this - well I sincerely hope you never do!

On Top of the World

The pace of life can move so fast
You think you're in control
But the only difference between a rut and a grave
Is really the depth of the hole

The slave you've become to a material world
Is broken, unfocussed, unwell
You're stripped of everything you had and were
Leaving a shattered empty shell

The Naked Truth
Life Begins Again

But in solitude you'll find yourself
Seek to know the you within
Pursue the things you love the most
And build your life again
