THE ANZAC TEST 2007

Hindmarsh scored the first try,
Matt King was next one in,
six nil score at half-time,
For the Anzac Test to win.
Thurston's kicks were stunning,
Karmichael's skills just fine,
Yes Australia played the Kiwis,
As they charged towards the line.
From second-half it was magic,
Try scores kept rolling in,
At Brisbane's Suncorp Stadium,
Australia's home ground win.
From the captain to his players,
Our Aussie's shine with pride,
With thirty points to six nil,
To defeat new Zealand's side.
I've done poems of test matches,
On games ere years before,
our amazing great league players,
Who represent our shore.

Hi Duncan
I'm not much into cricket, so don't know who the players are, but you have done a great job with the poem.
As with any sportsmen representing Australia at that level of play, they do a great job, and it's great to see them win.

well Irene,

I was thinking cricket too but wondered why I didn't know the names, then the light came on!!
It isn't cricket, but some other game he is talking about. The poem is in a form that wastes few words. So I'll do the same. Good job, well done. See ya.

Yeah, I saw "hindmarsh" and thougth it was cricket too, (he is a cricketer, isn't he?) until someone kicked!  Then I realised it must be footy or AFL or NRL or league, or whatever that game is with oval shaped balls instead of round ones.

Don't worry Duncan, it's a great poem, it's just that us girls aren't real sport-wise! Wink

Hi girls,

I saw Irene's post, but decided not to comment for fear of embarrassing someone. Even though I'm not into football of any code, I recognized this as league, and not cricket. But it was a bad day for NZ, as not only did they lose this football match, but also the Aussie cricketers really cleaned them up in the World Series one-dayer. Both matches by a big margin.

So I won't really post this. Please consider this post as a non-post—I'll leave it to someone else to point out the error.

By the way Duncan, nice work to get this done so soon after the event.

Cheers,

Tom
