It would appear the liabilities of life prevent Ric from spending as much time with us as he would prefer ... but I would imagine he would not wish for us to merely sit about like lost sheep...we too should adopt an attitude of sustaining interest and viability when ever we can... I humbly offer two subjects as suggestions for a Sept/Oct platform, till Ric can manage to take up the slack... 1. Native Animals. and 2.Their nemesis...Foxes and Feral Cats...
Hope this is not perceived as presumptuous or unwelcome... Regards, Bernie.

Hi Bernie I think that is a great idea!!! Have just logged on briefly after being away and busy, and had been wondering about the competition for these next two months. As you say, Ric has probably just not had time to get back to the site.
I don't think you are being presumptuous at all, just using your initiative. I vote we go with it!!! And with your suggested subjects.

G'day Ross, Therein resides a problem old Mate, literacy, language , tense , narrative styles and the like I critique in reviewing on a couple of sites but never offer opinions on the subject of meter and the vagaries of stressed syllables...we all know how I tend to err and lend scant attention in that department, so that excludes yours truly. The option was intended to bridge an obvious gap...still is. If the poems are forthcoming, in the absense of the usual judge, I would throw my hat in the ring to rate each in terms of content and the facets I usually comment upon...perhaps Manfred may be imposed upon to volunteer to do likewise with metered structure...and an overall decision may then be made. The comments and analysis to be kept discrete from the poem section and tabulated together after the set time..this also is a suggested option...unless you want the job? Cheers old Mate, Comments and other ideas anybody? Bernie.

G'day Bernie, It all sounds like a plan to me, it's not as if we would be playing for sheep stations anyway. I also believe that sometimes too much emphasis is put on the technical side of things, it is a bit like marshal arts or boxing I reckon, they are sports, and done well are entertaining, but the street or pub fighter is generally trying to get a point across in a way the rest will understand as it happens! Not suggesting that bush poets are street or pub fighters, but I think you know what I mean. And no, I am neither qualified nor able to do any judging but thanks for the thought.
Tom seems like a bloke with some knowledge of the technical side of things, perhaps he may be interested in helping out.

Hi fellas,
I'm reading all with interest. Even in the formal comps, the judges vary in their opinion. I used to show cats and one judge would put a certain cat first and another judge would put it last. Perfection is often in the eye of the beholder. I would rather have 'heart' than perfection any day. Bring on the lions. We metaphorical 'Christians' will stand our ground.
