I am very surprised..
I thought the site would have been inundated over the weekend with political poems..
and not one popped up. Bernard must be resting for a change.

G'day Zondrae,
an opinion on politics, and I.R.
Six of one...half dozen of the other...Doesn't much matter where you stand...
Stand left...proceed further left...if you proceed far enough you arrive at, Right???...
Stand right...move further right...if you continue far enough the curve leads, Left???...

The problem of I.R. laws is that of the pendulum, where the swing oscillates too far to either
direction...there is very little common ground...

The only "Statesman" likely to be found in Canberra, is in fact a motor vehicle...manufactured
by a Multi National Company, General Motors...

Not much there to inspire poetry...
                                                                  Bernie...

G'day Zondrea and Bernie,
Don't get me started, I'm depressed enough already, I would love to believe that this clown with his head in the clouds could make what is already pretty bloody good, into something even better, but the old saying, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" still holds pretty much with me, I will guarantee we are in for hard times ahead.............as a direct result of this election! ................"Hope I'm wrong!"

G'day Ross,
reckon it is obvious from the backwash from this, that things must slow to a crawl initially.
Also pretty obvious all the parties have severe internal divisions and for many  individuals their performance and perceived dedication has mainly been only an act of convenience aided by the laxity and arrogance of being in power...
That pendulum effect has recently effected, and will again, as control of the senate swings the other way, present, the real problem...the disruption to any attempt to govern, [for better or worse] while the status quo remains...followed by the predictible arrogance with which the unbiased are already familiar, as the pendulum of control swings the opposite way in July...A bluprint for hard times right enough, for which the outgoing had obviously run out of practical answers to remedy, and the incoming may likely find no acceptable solution.
Do think, as a casual observation, the 'clown' was taken too lightly by a far less astute 'leader', who should have known better and took some incredibly foolish personal options...and the voice of proposed, or was that supposed, democracy, no matter how plaintive, does require the courtesy of a hearing...
I agree the majority may find litte mirth in the upcoming era...
Keep well old Mate, it's called 'The Lucky Country'...
                                                                               Bernie...

Morning all,
Well I had thought of doing something, but it seemed that it would be all too transient - what/who lasts all that long in politics? I have been writing stuff with more lasting application lately, however there were some good rhyming potentials with the main characters: Rudd/blood, or Howard/coward, or election/direction, etc. Possibilities there, but never exploited.

Lucky country? Yes. A complete change with no guns, bombs, or bloodshed. We've got a lot to be thankful for in Oz. Things might get a bit harder, bit we're not starving or freezing to death on some dirt road to nowhere.

Cheers
Tom.

i often wonder, in the wake of elections, how much of the vote isn't actually a vote for a particular politician.  but  actually, just a vote against the particular pollie at the time.

lol...maybe they should be taught to share like preschoolers, each party gets a turn of a yearly cycle
