Hi all,
Have taken a leaf out of Bernie's book, and decided to post a topic. Have called it a challenge rather than a competition, as we don't have anyone to judge a competition.
As Zondrae has so kindly given us her homework topics, and Therese has taken up one of them, I thought we could use that topic this month. Therefore, if I am not being too presumptuous, have nominated ' I had a Dream' as the topic for February/March. Perhaps Therese could re-post hers here, and Zondrae could post hers.
For any newcomers wanting to respond to the challenge, just post your poem on this topic, as a reply.

Great idea Irene,

I don't want to be lazy so I'll try to come up with another.. Meanwhile this weeks homework is "MR ORGANIC"

With our homework topic, we are able to use it as a title or just incorporate it somewhere in the poem. Subsequently my result was;

Tango With Claude
© Zondrae King (Corrimal) 12/07

Last night, it was wonderful. I had a dream.
The images can’t be ignored.
I was supple and eager, back in my prime
and dancing the Tango with Claude.

My sister and I were the bells of the ball
Being popular was our reward
No matter who asked we would dance with them all
and both would dance Tango with Claude.

We found young men waiting to pair up with us
Each different style must be explored.
Those days it was Latin beat that we preferred
and I loved to Tango with Claude.

That Napoli Tony could dance Rock and Roll
he’d spin us around on the board
or croon us a song. Girls went weak at the knees.
But I’d rather Tango with Claude.

For new comers, often we’d make up a name
Like ‘squeeky’ or ‘red nose’ or ‘fraud’.
But even the new chums could never compare
to dancing a Tango with Claude.

Always spectacular Cha Cha with Jimmy
a gathering crowd would applaud.
but something that always left me wanting more
was doing the Tango with Claude.

So in my dream I found my feet once again.
The dance floor was polished and broad.
Still young and alive and excited to find
I was dancing the Tango with Claude.

Well, I decided I was going to sit out in the peace of the night, and write myself a nice poem for the challenge....until the blokes decided to test their boat motor in readiness for a fishing trip tomorrow!!!!  Angry
Had to settle for a little bit of drivel instead!!!! Totally blew my inspiration!!!   Cry

I Had a Dream…..
01/02/08

I had a dream…. of peace out on the balcony,
a little peace to write myself a poem.
I had a dream… the silence would inspire me,
allow my creativity to roam.

I got myself quite comfy with my writing gear
and poured myself a little glass of wine.
The stars were bright, and only night sounds I could hear.
Tranquillity, I knew would soon be mine.

My hubby I had left with mates out in his shed;
a fishing trip they planned tomorrow morn.
“We’ll get the boat and rods prepared tonight”, he said.
“We have to be prepared to leave at dawn.”

So there I sat in peace out on the balcony
when suddenly, the night was filled with sound.
A motor filled the air with such disharmony,
I knew no inspiration would be found.

I had a dream…. that scattered on the starry night
‘midst echoes flying high among the trees.
I had a dream of inspiration in my sight;
a dream that drifted off upon the breeze

Oh well, there's always tomorrow night!!!

Good afternoon ladies,
I have done something today which I should do more of, I have put off the jobs I should be doing and taken up the challenge of 'Zondrae's homework' Here is what I came up with, don't ask me how or why, the first line has been in my head for awhile, I think it is from a country song I heard recently, or at least inspired by one.

“I HAD A DREAM”

© Ross Magnay   2 / 2 / 08

I was talking to a digger in the dream I had last night,
He had dirt and sweat and blood on him, but reckoned he was right.
He said, “We started fighting back when time had first begun,
and I reckon we’ll be fighting ‘til the dying of the sun.”

“while there’s money and religion, while there’s men obsessed with power,
there’ll be battles, war and bloodshed ’til the planet’s final hour.”

When I woke my ears were ringing, from the screaming of the shells,
from the sad and mournful crying and the peeling of the bells,
from the hooves of charging horses and the belching cannons roar,
from the dying of the soldiers in a never ending war.

oh lovely ross!

i dare say there would have been far too many diggers, who had such a dream.

must be terrible to awake from a dream, and find that you're actually in a nightmare!
