This week,
for anyone who would like to have a go at writing to the homework topic of our poetry group,  the theme is  RAIN. Simple but maybe not. I always try to get a different 'slant' on things... mmmm  .... Perhaps 'Rain' was the name of the budgie who flew up the chimney last week... you never know.

~ rain ~

come mother nature, bring on the rain
top up rivers, and fill billabongs
its time for birds, to mate again
and fill the air, with their songs

so many, of our creeks have dried
we've endured this drought, for years
our stock is starving, so many have died
so many have left farms, in tears

i miss the rain that falls through the night
that leaves the morning, feeling fresh and cool
my vegie gardens, a sad and sorry sight
theres six inches of dirt, at the bottom of my pool

i long to hear, the distant roll of thunder
and see the lightning bright, against dark skies
to sit in contemplation, of your wonder
and listen to the green frogs, mating cries
