Hi to the many poet pals of James Hasson of Beaudesert.

Unfortunately this wonderful gentleman, who has been a friend of many people, especially those in the bush poetry fraternity, is very ill.

He is the victim of asbestos from his early working life and is now failing fast.   His brain is still excellent but difficulty in breathing and pain, has seen him become very thin and weak.

James is too ill now to indulge in his beloved poetry or to work on his computer.

The Beaudesert Bush Bards have been blessed to have James as a member since their first meeting almost five years ago.  Not only is James a good poet but excellent company.

I am sure that those of you who know James either personally or through this web site, will be sorry to hear this news.

Should you wish to send him best wishes, his postal address is 4 Palm Court, Beaudesert 4285.  His wife's name is Edith.

Thanks for letting us know Pamela.  I have been sending him books and a CD, I hope someone there is able to read to him occasionally.  He sure was a lovely gentleman and I was very touched that he rang me to let me know personally a while ago.  Perhaps I'll send him another letter or something - I love getting surprises in the mail - perhaps it'll lift his spirits for a little while.

Thanks Pamela,

Kym.

Yeah thanks Pamela,
I wrote a short note when I read this post last week, and sent to James, he and I have differing political opinions and that was evident by some of our online 'debates' but basically we are pretty good mates. I posted the letter on my way out bush on Monday and received a phone call on Friday night, that was the first time we had spoken, I missed the ol' fella when I was over there a couple of years ago so it was good to catch up with him.
Thanks again,
Ross

This message is to let all my Grandad's fellow poet friends, associates & 'sparring partners' know that he passed away peacefully at home yesterday morning.
Kind Regards,

G'day Michelle,

Thank you for making effort, in such a time to let us know of your Grandad's passing. He was a well respected man. Even though I had never had the pleasure of meeting him, I felt I know him as he gave generously, of his wisdom and stories. We have missed him on line and now join with you in your time of sadness. While his stories are remembered, he still is present.  My condolences to you and all the rest of his close family.

Rest In Peace James.

My sincere and heart felt condolence to all members
of James’ family…
                    A REQUIEM FOR JAMES.

Though we may not see it, it has risen…to shine above,
a star, the spirit of James Hasson…a man, of concern.
That quiet man, voiced, of composed opinion and love,
had said, give, more than take…take, but what you earn.

This man who served two nations…both, truly and well,
honoured heritage and birthplace, extolled a new home.
A man of diverse talents, of experience, truth would tell,
of hardship and perseverance, seen either side the foam.

Life so often at its harshest, as it cleans a battler’s slate,
A practical man, one adaptable…committed to provide,
who lived for wife and family, so undeserving of his fate…
All, are lesser, for his passing… may he, in peace abide…

Rest easy in tranquil peace, true friend…

Hello Michelle,
Thank you for passing on the news, I was one of your Grandads 'Sparring partners' and one of his mates, we often had differing opinions on subjects (mainly political) but always agreed on the main things! He was a great friend even though we never got to meet in person, he has been sadly missed here on the site and will continue to be so.
My thoughts are with you all,
Kindest Regards,

G'day Michelle.  It is with a touch of sadness that I logged on to find that James had passed away.  He was a genuine Australian and I enjoyed his love of friendship and poetry.  I'm sure that you have many fond memories, just as those of us who come to know him have.  Rest in peace James.
