Since you mention it Zondrae, yes, the real game grand final is on today, you know the dinkum Aussie rules game of football, not some nancy round ball game with no physical contact, not some game where five blokes try and push four blokes up three blokes  a***hole, then carry the bloody ball 'til they fall over and everyone cheers, no, the real, dinkum game of Aussie rules football, you know the one that gets ten to twenty thousand people attend the final training session when other codes are lucky to get that many attend the actual game! Don't mention the capacity crowd at the ground (somewhere near 100,000 people) and the millions all over the world watching it on TV, the net etc. Yes Zondrae I believe there is a game on today.................and I am not even one of the passionate followers!!

G'day Ross, Zondrae,
What a bloody slaughter...the stick it up to the
favourites, final quarter...Even the rugby league followers respect an
Aussie Rules Grand Final...never miss watching myself and the bonus
is...No bloody Video Ref!...
                             But...next Sunday Melbourne and Manly,
Rugby League, that should be worth watching...even without
the on field-rectal examinations Manly once offered...and the
head turning defensive powess of Melbourne...There's a Storm
brewing...
                              Bernie...

G'day Bernie,
Try as I might I just can't get a handle on league, I know the rules keep changing which makes it hard to learn, mind you, the same goes for aussie rules, sometimes I just can't work out what is happeneing, then I find out they have changed some other bloody rule! I am definately with you on the video ref, we havn't got it in aussie rules ...yet, but there have been a few blokes do a game or two over the video reports. I reckon all this video umpiring is a blight on the game, all games, cricket is virtually umpired from the sidelines now, that used to be reserved for us expert spectators, sort of takes away the value of having an umpire/ref, there is no room for human error which really is part of all sport, might as well just have computer animated games if they want to get that perfect. You reckon there is a storm brewing, I thought it had already hit............to the tune of 50 grand!
I am not a fan of mexicans so go the  Sydney siders!

G'day Ross,
Most of those Mexicans...eleven or twelve in the Storm
team, play State of Origin for Queensland or New South Wales...
mostly Queensland...Viva Zapata!
Reckon there'll be a few blokes get the Brylcreem
knocked out of their hair in next Sunday's contest...Just hope the bloody
Video Ref or stupid penalties don't deside the issue...Once it was Manly
who was unloved...these days it's Storm, but the game is there to be won...
Catch you down the track Mate,
                                                                       Bernie...

G'day Bernie,
Funny you should say all those banana benders play for the storm, before aussie rules became a national comp and for awhile after, they used to have AFL state of origin games between mexico an SA, better than half the bloody SA team played in Vic. those days it was a case of who had the most money................still is I 'spose!
I do try and watch the NRL state of origin, never know what they are doing, but those games seem to have a different atmosphere about them, the territorial instinct if you like.
Whatever code, I wish I had been good at one of them, wouldn't have to work so bloody hard now if I had!

A Storm?

When? better batten down the hatches. Put the chooks inside and lock up the dog!

No? oOh! it's not that kind of storm. well I'm happy to hear that.

Last Sunday night my  niece rang in tears. I quickly asked what's wrong? Hubby left? Baby ill in hospital? Mum had a heart attack?
No.. none of the above. Just her team had won.  Won what, I asked.

What a joke! how upset would she have been if they lost. I can't ever get that enthusiastic about a game of aerial ping pong  or that other one where they run forward  carrying the ball and then throw it backwards to a bloke who is behind them. Which way are they trying to go?

If it must be ball sports, give me Cricket any day. At least I can understand that.

If the team that wins the toss decides to bat they all go and sit down except one. But all the bowling team take the field and try to catch the ball when the batter hits it. When the batsman gets out he comes in. Then the next one goes out and takes on the other team. Now if you hit it hard and it gets to the boundry, but inside you get 4 runs (but you don't necessarily have to run) but if it goes out of bounds, over the fence, you get 6 runs (but again you don't have to run at all. see, easy to understand).  The game continues until both teams have all their batsmen out twice or time runs out. Unless every batsman has a two turns each the match is a draw. Best of all, you don't have to bat if it is raining or too dark to see the ball. How fair can you get?

G'day Zondrae,
Test Cricket?...sounds about as exciting as watching the grass grow...
Never mind...the cricketers antics off-field are picking up intensity...
they will soon rival the footballers  in the stupidity stakes...
And the fans...the soccer fans take the cake...even the
footy fans can't match them...
Never mind Zondrae, it takes all kinds...and I do watch most 'sport'...
cricket included...
                     Bernie...
