( Note to self; Brian Cadd and Slims mob are Aussies... but all the others?? and I'm not even sure about Brian)

Touche!
Hey Jim, Kamahl is not really my style, mind you I would sooner listen to him than Jimmy! Dancing is not really my thing either, I played the drums in a country rock band for about 15 years or so, never got too much time for dancing. I have been to a few live shows, Slim, John Williamson, Eric Bogle and the Wolverines, to name a few, I knew Big Jim Hermal and the blokes in his band 'The stone mountain band' back in the seventies, they weren't a real big name, but they did go overseas.  I met Jack Jones at a film shoot for a Quantas ad and at the same place met one of Len Beadells' daughters who happened to be playing in the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra at the same film shoot. We are also quite friendly with Warren Williams and his partner So that is about as close to name dropping as I can get! oh yeah, there is one more mob a mate and I came across in a dive in Adelaide once, she was a smokey dark dingy joint with a lot of people who looked like they had trouble getting their feet back on the ground, and the air reminded me of the days we had to burn paddy melon vines on the farm, the band had not been heard of at that stage, they were "Redgum' who of course a few years later became quite well known. All in all it is a pretty small world really, and generally famous or semi famous people are still just people, some good at what they do, some not so good, and the whole thing is really just one blokes opinion compared to anothers'! Oh yeah Jim, I went to the Gympie muster about 5 years back, sunny bloody Queensland my bum! rained the whole time we were over there!
Off bush for a couple of days tomorrow, talk again later!

Zondrae, the point was that they are top names everybody knows and in my opinion Australia has no one near Petula Clark.Ferry accross the Mersey by Gerry and the pacemakers is also a lovely song.Bring them to a folk festival and I'll be there. But they bring out second raters from overseas the normal punter in the street has never heard of,pay them big money, then expect the Australian poets to perform for nothing.Ross glad to see you know Warren H.Saw him at Gympie, was in the front row.Best show I have seen this year.Absolutely love his songs and that beautiful voice and his great guitar work.Like him better than his boss whose nasal twang gives Australian singers a bad name. But Willy has the twang to.Cad,Williamson,Adam Brand and I think Kernaghan live near here in the hinterland, also Bill Hunter who I have seen at a pub about 20k away and my sheila got his autograph at Beaudesert races.Nough of the name dropping.Saw redgum perform Lawson at Gympie also ,a bit twangy for me but actor Max Callem played Lawson and I had a great yarn with him after the show.Very talented professional actor Jim
