This may not be the best poem ever written by its a special one to me!

Guyra Ghost

Looking for a horse to buy
Had led me down a trail
Of to old to fat to spirited
And all to no avail

I’d searched for months to find a horse
Whose canter I could ride
But with no luck I’d given up
I told her as I sighed

I know a horse she said to me
He might be the one for you
He’s old and calm and gentle
I didn’t have a clue

Just how this horse would shape my life
The happy times we’d share
The lessons learnt, the ribbons won
No others would compare

Moving up the drive way
I saw his flowing mane
At first glance I knew he’d be
The horse for my campaign

An Arab cross so handsome
His coat flea bitten grey
His canter light and springy
My heart missed a beat that day

He settled in at once at home
We went about our training
He tried so hard to please me
And my confidence was gaining

I took him to a dressage comp
But that was just the very tip
Wasn’t long and he and I
Had won the championship

Long trail rides and jumping
Pony club and RDA
No matter what I asked of him
Yes is what he’d say

We’ve been cutting cows and droving
Moved interstate and back
He taught so many kids to ride
He sure deserves a clap

I rode him down to IGA
And tied him up outside
Astonished looks was all I got
From people passing by

Now retired he spends his day
Playing sleeping and grazing
The things he’s done to change my life
Well they simply are amazing

He won’t be with us for much longer
But I can surely boast
The best horse in the world I’m sure
His name is Guyra Ghost

Telling people what you think won't make you popular with them but at least they'll know where they stand with you.
