Welcome,
Firstly we are a friendly group who love poetry. My prefered style is what we call rhyming  verse (or Bush Poetry). We try to encourage and help each other in our writing and it is not really a competition.

I belong to a group of writers who meet every week. I live in the Wollongong area. (Southern NSW) Somehow I began to post the topic of the week in the "Have a Yarn" section and some of the users of this site began to join in by writing a poem and posting it. I print them and take them to my writers meeting. It is very informal and we vote on the poem we like the best and award a DPA (Distinguished Poets Award). Sometimes I remember to give a Gold Star to the first posted poem. There is no real prize. It is just a little bit of fun to encourage poets to write a poem every week. Some of my weekly poems are utter rubbish but sometimes I find a real gem among them.

You are able to post your poetry in the members  section without being on the weekly topic. We have a regular contributor in Israel and also one in Cornwall (UK) as well as all our Australian members.

The only 'rule' we have is that you not use offensive material. So please let us know something about yourself, for example where you are, is English your first language, what are your interests etc.  and come on in.
