G/day Irene,
First of all thanks for all the hard work you have done running and promoting both this and the Cervantes Competition, not to mention filling in and producing our W.A. club magazine while the editor was away and the numerous other ways in which you help when needed. No wonder your struggle to find time to write your beautiful poetry.
Now how about everybody giving Irene a hand by putting an entry or two into both this and the Cervantec comp. and remember the Boyup Brook comp has an emerging poets section, this is a great chance for poets who are new to the scene or those who haven't won anything yet.

Cheers and thanks once again Irene

Hi
Thanks to everyone who entered poems in our written competition - I had the pleasure of sorting through them to send them off to be judged, and it was great to recognise most of the names from this site and the ABPA site.

There were two categories - Open and Emerging poet - and the winners for these were:

Open
Winner - On Raffertys Run - Arthur Green. Warana. Qld.

Highly Commended
The Other Side of Paradise - Terry Piggott. Canning Vale. WA
Heart of the Grey - Arthur Green. Warana. Qld.

Commended
The Blooming - Glenny Palmer. Wimbledon. Qld
Faith - Glenny Palmer. Wimbledon. Qld
The Saddle in the Yard - Zondrae King. East Corrimal. NSW

Emerging Poet
Winner - Lost - Val Wallace. Glendale. NSW

High Commended
Where Barty Played - Manfred Vijars. Morningside. QLd

Commended
Aboriginal Dreaming - Val Wallace. Glendale. NSW
Two Bobs - Leonie Parker. Brassall. QLD

Congratulations to all those who placed in the competition - well done. The open category was very close, and there were a number of poems that may well have been winners, except that the decision has to be made somewhere. The result ultimately came down to some nitpicking in order to determine those placegetters.
Congratulations and thanks also to the others who submitted poems - unfortunately, there can only be a few placegetters, so please keep entering your poems.

WELL DONE - CONGRATULATIONS
