now I know the metre is way out BUT.. when I read it to my group, I can 'talk' it into shape.

I am, on occasion, very lazy with my homework poems. And THEN along comes one like 'Rain".
All practice is good. Even if you know you've done it wrong! (well that's my excuse anyway.)
With sincere thanks to Kym and Peely who offered some help in one of the above sections. (See HELP).

I was up at 4.30 this morning and we have been building a new chickenopolis for my four laying hens. For the last 5 or 6 weeks I have collected 4 eggs almost every day. Not bad for 4 hens. Sometimes one has a rest for a day and I would not be surprised if they don't lay tomorrow. It was rather upsetting for the girls to have to move house.  OOww sorry, I almost forgot.. here is my poem. (at least I did one)

Musing On A Summer Night
© Zondrae King (Corrimal) 12/09                                        homework topic “swimming the ocean”

It’s funny how the wheel of fate can spin us round and round
as we’re swimming through the ocean we call life.
When young, we think the here and now is everything there is
and our childhood squandering of time is rife.

As time goes on we understand just what tomorrow is
and some start delaying things they’d like to do.
They put off going places, making friends or having fun -
and discover their tomorrows don’t come true.

At twenty five , careers set, our feet are on a path
and sadly some make choices that just don’t fit.
How many of us have the nerve to throw it in and change,
choose again, make a brand new start to it.

The web of life surrounds us. It is like the spiders lair.
The trap is set but somehow we don’t see it.
Swimming the ocean can be fun, but we must keep our head.
With luck you’ll find your calling and you’ll be it.

(I know 'it' and 'it' are not considered a rhyme but I'm too tired to change it now)

Goodness you are on a roll Zondrae.  Well done again.  I know what you mean about when you read it aloud.  Your words come out the way you meant them to be.  Maybe we should work on that more?  After all everything is becoming more audio/visual.  Ug!!! I don't like that so much ;-)   Frances

Wow Therese,

This is 2009. I had forgotten it. I will have to read it myself to see what I was on about!
