In Torquay Victoria
The Torquay Froth and Bubble Literary Festival
Saturday and Sunday June 19th and 20th. 2010 The Torquay Froth and Bubble Literary Festival is in its third year with a hands-on approach, workshops for children and adults, authors incl. from the surf industry, languages, spectacular theatre productions, poets, words on wheels and more.
Torquay has always been a town where the surrounding coastal scenery inspires artists and writers who come to our area. We have gathered  together poets and writers whose purpose is to inspire the creativity in all of us and also to display their own endeavours.
The inspiration for the festival came from Australia’s first poet of note, Adam Lindsay Gordon, 1833-1870 who is the only Australian to have his Bust and Memorial in Westminster Abbey. Gordon wrote the famous lines “Life is mostly froth and bubble”. Gordon, too, did most of his creative work, and spent his happiest times, by the sea.. His poetry inspired artists such as McCubbin and Condor to use his poems as themes for their paintings, and also, through Gordon’s poems, The Australian Literature Society was formed. Languages from around the world will also come together with our new addition to the programme, a festival of languages.  The schools of Torquay are taking part with poetry for prizes and their work will be showcased throughout the town.
Cafes in Torquay will supply the froth, and bubble, and we always have the bubbling, foaming surf! Why not spend the week-end in Torquay, Victoria?

Who sang the first great songs this land can claim
To be their own; the one who did not seem
To know what royal place awaited him
Within the Temple of the Beautiful”.

G'day rangerjohn,

Is there a written poetry competition attached to this festival? If so where can I get an entry form and conditions of entry.
