Just a quiet word…I’ve penned a few over the years here.
I’m not referring to the numerous “poems”, or however my
ramblings may be classed…the quiet word, as always, is
to plead the cause of both literacy, and poetry.

We have here, a site with all requirements…all, that is, bar
a sustainable volume of input, fresh new blood and a forum
which lives, breathes and feasts upon joys of writing.

Each and every one who took the time, and effort to register
here did so because, inwardly, there was a desire to write, to
convey and express a variety of ideas, ideals and opinions…
Writing, is both, an individual, and a widely shared ability.
It may be the medium of frustration, as well as a source of joy
and satisfaction, both, to the  author, and the audience, but it
is ever the means to a broader perspective, where one’s eyes, may
indeed become the windows  of awareness to many others…

Akin to any other sphere of endeavour, there must, as well as
the desire, be the ability to take that first step forth into what
is untried and unknown…That, is never the worst part, it is
the best part…This is where achievement commences. Without
this initial venture, quite simply, nothing happens. Yes, it may
not be easy, it may take persistence, but with each step, the path
becomes less difficult.

Here, you have both a forum as well as understanding, those
whose work is seen here appreciate fully how hard taking that
first step really is…Everybody, has some individual talent, the
key to a later personal style.

I can but utter these few quiet, hopefully not totally inadequate
words, in the hope some may listen and take that first step…

Regards,
            Bernie de Silva…

SSShh! Bernard,

Don't tell anyone that I am still here. We are still getting organised and ready to set off.

I have also heard from several people that they have tried and can't get on to the site. Maureen can respond to me in the 'have a yarn' but can't put comments on poems. Noel can't get on at all and another bloke said he tried to register and got a message that the site was 'disabled'. I was about to say I think Ric has finally pulled the pin on us but as you, therese, (and a cou[ple of others) and I can get on, I have no idea what is going on. I have been popping in from time to time but not saying much.. same on ABPA site. I used to be the 'most posted' over there but now I've fallen to about 10th. Still keen on the poetry but looking forward to a holiday. No TV and warm weather.

I really haven't written much that inspires since my husband had his second round of 'C'. He is clear just now so we can breath for a few months. I hope to do some spontaneous writing while up north. I did last time. Keep the home fires burning til I get back. I'll pop into view from time to time. Internet cafes are cheap and my main form of amusement when away. Except for fishing. All the best Bernard. You are a beacon in the darkness.

G'day Zondrae,
I think the problem may lie with using Firefox,
I encounter the reply OK but no new or forum posts here if I
use Firefox but if I use the older Internet Explorer I have no
problems...I did Email Ric about it but I've had no reply to date...
Just mention this to the others you mentioned if
you happen to speak to them.
Enjoy your trip, both you and the Big Fella,
                             Cheers Old Mate,
                                                Bernie...

aaarrrhh!,

I had so many problems with firefox that we went right away from PCs to Mac.  Apparantly firefox had a clitch where it ends up taking so much of your memory space that the computer slows down to a standstill. I'll mention tis to Maureen and Bob. Thanks for that Bernard. I think we will be off soon. I have a poets breakfast tomorrow at Mt Kembla then we are free to go.

Yoo hoo, I haven't been here for aaaaaages!!!  How are ya Bernie?  Do you even remember me?Huh?  I can still reply, but perhaps new people can't for some reason?  It would be a pity for this site to fold up.

Are you enjoying your holiday Zondrae?  It's pouring rain here at the moment, so you were lucky we had beautiful weather last weekend for your visit.  Did you get as far north as Cairns?  Or still working on that??

See yas,

Kym.

G'day Kym,
how could I forget you Horsey Lady?
I'd surely hate to see this site fall by
              the wayside...I don't suppose you
could be prevailed upon to post some
small offering just to gladden an old
beggar's heart and help get the ball
              rolling again...
Be great if you could Dear Lady, the
              more, the merrier.
Cheers Mate, great to hear from you.
                                           Bernie...
(As for myself, I'm still the obtuse vintage lout
you may remember from better days here...
"Correctness" hasn't swallowed me as yet, and
I'm still on the right side of the upper surface
           of horse paddock...but, were I, a horse, I'd be
really wary of people with needles or weapons of
           selected destruction.)

G'day Bernard,

Didn't get up as far as Mackay.  Was hijacked in Rockhampton region. Did a tour of the caravan parks Two spots on the way up and then the Yeppoon Festival on the Sunday. On the way home we stopped at Goondiwindi and I did a spot at the van park there as well.

Met Kym, she's just like I expected her to be. Full of life and loads of fun. Home and the old man is much better for the whole trip. He paled up with a local who lent us some crab pots. We feasted on mud crab, pineapples, coconuts  and passionfruit. There was the odd fish but nothing of note.

G'day Zondrae,
glad to hear you both had a good break...
I haven't been fishing for a long time now, gave my
offshore rig to my son and my legs don't agree too
much with the tinnie these days...
Good to see you back...I'm running
short on ideas to stir up activity, but I notice some
of the other sites I post to are not all that active
either. Must be that global warming...
                 Cheers Old Mate,
                                      Bernie...
