Tibooburra Corner Country

In the rugged outback country out in far west New South Wales,
there’s a place a man can always feel secure.
Where old fashioned values are embraced and mateship still prevails.
Where the men are strong and women still demure.

You can let your kids roam freely round the country, ‘cross the land
and you know they will always be safe and well.
They still value family living and good people lend a hand
They’ve still got the time to stop a while, a yarn to tell.

Way out in the corner country by a fire of gidgee coal
Where the air is fresh and clean as it can be.
Campfire smoke scented by gum leaves drifts from near the water hole.
It’s a tonic to an old ringer like me.

You can see the country changing as you travel ‘cross the land.
An ancient Dreamtime place of rocks and sand and shale.
Forty thousand square kilometres of outback country grand
where the cockatoos and desert pea prevail.

Yes I’ve travelled far and wide mate, seen the country at it’s best.
Watched the flooding rivers sweep across the plains.
but I've seen it to at flood time when your resolve it will test;
a vast inland sea that's fed by pouring rains.

You can keep you city suburbs and the bustle of the trains
frantic crowds who push and shove to make their way.
I love the corner country with it’s open rolling plains.
Yes Tibooburra is the place I long to stay.

Hey Bob,
How did you get into this site. there are several people who have tried and can't get in to register. Also Maureen and Leonie were both active here previously. Now Maureen can't access it. Noel Causer has forgotten his password and can't get back in. I used to post a topic every week and collect the poems for my group to read and award a DPA. But as few people can now participate I was going to give it a rest. I will try again after my holiday . well I may not need to as Bernard is doing a splendid job of offering a subject each week.

Hi Zondrae I must have registered on a previous visit and just went through the process of setting up my pass word again. You will probably be back home by the time you read this but it was great to meet up and perform together and I hope Wayne caught plenty of Fish.

Cheers Bob

Good to see some movement here Bob. Bernie does a stellar job of keeping this site active, as does Zondrae - when she isn't on holidays!!  Cheesy Just joking Zondrae! And Zondrae - please keep posting your topics from your group - we can have two lots to choose from - yours and Bernies!!
I have not been on here for some time until recently as life just got a little busy and it was too hard to keep up with everything.
However, it is a wonderful site, and there is so much good poetry to go back and read.

If you don't have time to browse back through everything, just cheat like I do!! Where it tells you how many guests and members there are on line - you can click on that and it will show you what everyone is looking at. Our guests go back through the old poetry, so you can just click on the name of the poem they are reading, and presto!! You are back there!!
