Isn't it interesting - how many people go way back over the years to the old poetry posted on this site, and read it?

I had an interesting experience today. Back in September 2007, I posted a poem I wrote called Stumpy Stromatolite. I wrote it after a visit to the Pilbara, and called in to Hamlin Pool to see the stromatolites. A friend of mine also visited there after and challenged me to write a poem. I only ever posted it on this site, then did nothing much with it.
This morning, I received an email from a lady who is the new Interpretive Officer for the Shark Bay World Heritage area in Dept Environment & Conservation. She read my poem yesterday, as she was heading out to check out the signage etc at Hamlin Bay and the stromatolites, and thought how appropriate the poem was, and how much she liked it - and she wants to publish it in a publication they have at Shark Bay.
I rang her and asked where she had seen my poem, thinking perhaps a friend of mine up there had given it to her. Apparently, in October, someone had read it on this site, emailed it to someone they knew in DEC, who then emailed it to this lady. She read yesterday it as she was ready to head out there!! She then googled my name, found my facebook page, which led her to a small website I have, and got my email address from there!! I had thought the poem was long gone and dusted!! (Except for the copy on my computer!!) Amazing how things turn up so long after - 4 yrs ago!!
It is great to know that people are still enjoying our poems posted so long ago!!
