THE BUSH-BRED PHILOSOPHER.
(  Robbo: On The Politics Of The Nation. )

Show to me, that wry, dry, wit and humour,
from some vintage, bush-bred, philosopher.
Their critical analysis is lacking any furore,
and with correctness seldom do they concur.

A rustic wisdom, is mostly simple and direct,
with anecdotes, which forever bring a smile,
The practicality of tradition these men select,
to best the popular options by a country mile.

Logical declarations, are easy to understand,
and a bush sage has ‘No dead horse, to flog’ ,
his solutions, are always, tailored to demand.
“Forget about that…It’d kill the drover’s dog”.

“Party politics, is that voice, of a common ilk,
the bush philosopher, knowingly commented,
Setting popular policy in terms smooth as silk.
Nobody cares one rat’s behind who is affected”.

What’s seen election time, at a polling booth?
It’s your member, smiling like a Cheshire cat.
Flasher, than a rat, with a fancy golden tooth,
hell bent, on preservation, you can bet on that…

What members give away many have still got,
that aura, of a‘ Golden Handshake’ remains.
One grand excuse, for vast collusion, is it not?
All grant it’s wrong but nary a one complains.

A retirement  pension, lurks and perks, as well,
travel, about the globe, comes completely gratis.
The goodies keep on flowing, lifelong I hear tell,
treasure troves come of ex-prime minister status.

Pay those blighters precisely what they’re worth,
based on honest toil few would deserve a bundle.
Of practical rulings, there appears to be a dearth,
Lurks, should stop, as to retirement, they trundle.

Were politicians’ rewards just the few honest bob,
you could bet fortunes, there’d hardly be a queue.
Nor any waiting list, those clamouring for the job,
yet hope reigns eternal to give credit where it’s due…

Old wearied battlers, are ever grateful for a pension,
they’ve done those hard yards, paid, all taxation due.
They see no point, in discord, but do need to mention,
the fallacy in democracy, is something all should rue.

G'day to you, Bernie!

Bravo for the above, sir.
I am not bush-bred
But heartily concur
With all you've said!!

Good one!

what makes politicians think they deserve to be showered with perks

after all they certainly don't put in a full years work!

let someone come along, and promise to cut a lot of the perks
..... i think they'd be quite popular
