G'day Ric,
As you know I am not the sharpest knife in the drawer when it comes to computers, I was a bit curious as to how I get a picture up on a post, I have had a couple of goes but don't seem to have any success.

G'day Ross,

When you post a new topic or a reply, there are two rows of icons above the typing area.  On the second row, second from the left, there is provision for inserting an image.  You can also do this using code, but if I typed it, it wouldn't show anyway.

Your image needs to be hosted on a website somewhere for it to show up.  You can get a free account at Flickr or another place is Imageshack where you can upload your photos.  When you include them in a post, make sure you include the full URL including the http:// in the address.

I put the URL (http://www.rocketfrog.com.au/HUNTER.jpg) between the 'img' tags (the image was in caps)

and voilalalalalalala ...... Smiley Smiley Smiley Smiley Smiley Smiley Smiley

There,  you see a strapping seventeen year old somewhere along Snake Creek between the McArthur and Robinson Rivers N.T.

Manfred,

That url is reporting a 404 error.  Are you sure Hunter has a capital H?

Be challenged Zondrae.  It really is quite simple.  Here's some instructions for you.

In your Firefox browswer, have two tabs open.  One is on the Forum and in the area for a reply to a post.  The other tab is open on the page where the image is shown, not a whole page, just an image.

Type your reply and where you want to insert the image, hit the little icon which will insert the image tags in your reply.  Now go to your other tab and highlight the URL for the image site.  Hold down your Control key and hit C which will copy the URL.  Go back to the Forum reply and put your mouse between the image tags and click so that the cursor is in the right place.  Hold down your Control key again and hit the V key and it will paste the URL in place.  A bit of practice and determination and you'll be a master.  You'll be writing web sites next.....

After posting the above, I realised that what may be easy for me may be difficult for others.  If anyone is struggling with this, please let me know and I will explain it further where possible.  You can get me on MSN using bushie at hotmail dot com.

However, I have still decided to offer a prize for the first person to post an image on the Forum (apart from Merv who knows how to do it!).  The prize will be a night out alone at a venue of your choice.  Get cracking!!

Linux or Unix aren't important, ... if the piccie that you want to display is called: ZoNdRae.jpg, you must type in ZoNdRaE.jpg, NOT  ZONDRAE.JPG or zondrae.jpg, or any variation.
If you need help just yell out ....  Smiley

Cheers,

Manfred.

HI
Just thought I would give this a go and see how it works.

Keeping my fingers crossed!! If it works, it is a photo of the beach at Jurien at sunset.
