ummmmmm  Undecided.... nope, dunno it ... sorry Jim ... Grin  a poem about avocadoes Huh seems an odd sort of topic.  I've got a poem about melons, but not the edible kind, well not the grow-on-a-vine kind, but now I'm just being cheeky and rude  Roll Eyes

I've got a song about Avacado's...

"Avacado" (to the tune of "Desperado" by The Eagles)

Avacado, you're a delight to my senses
You're so dark and delicious and so ripe now
Oh you're a soft one, I know that's when you're good eatin'
Your taste is real pleasin, I will peel you right now

With some lemon pepper sprinkled on
I'll eat you when I'm able
You know I haven't picked a bad one of you yet
Now you look so fine and luscious
When you're sliced and on my table
And I'll eat as much of you as I can get

Avacado, oh, could you make me look younger?
I don't feel any hunger, cause you satisfy
Ohh, and fattening--well that's just some people talkin'
You fat is the good kind that will not make me wide

You don't grow in places with winter climes
You like the warmth and the bright sunshine
I could eat the kind with bumpy skin all day
You know nutrition's high, and the carbs are low
Ain't it funny how the peelin' falls away? Falls awaaaaay.....

Avacado, you are so very delicious
I’ll get down my best dishes, when you’re on the plate
You may be mashed up
’cause guacamole becomes you
And I bet they’re gonna love you
(yeahh, you just bet they love you)
Oh yes I bet they’re gonna love you
‘cause dinners at eight

Yeah you gotta watch that little piggy - she's a real nut!

As for the crazy flea-bitten grey bronc, that sounds a bit like me.  The grey bit anyway.

Hi Babe,  I loved your avocado song.  Did you write that a while ago, or just for a reply now?  Either way, you are a very clever little ham-hock!

Bye for now, neigh-bour!

G'day Jim, Yes i remember the poem 'That Avocado'  by good freind of mine Gertrude Skinner.

That Avocado.

I brought an Avocado,
And had it for a snack,
But no one ever told me,
It was an affidisiact.
I soon became exited,
In a sexy kind of way ,
I hung around the fellas,
Enticing words i'd say
People were surprised at me,
And said this can't be true,
They thought i gone right off my head,
or else i'd had a few.
It really was exiting ,
And good it was for me,
I'd never felt so loosened up,
I say this truthfully.
I'd been so shy and bashful,
In all my life before,
But now with Avocados,
I won't be anymore.

(c) Gertrude Skinner.

Good on you Duncan for knowing about that poem, at least someone can stay with the original subject instead of getting all distracted (like some of us do)!   I'm impressed ...

Are you still enjoying your new job?

See ya',

hi babe.  i showed your avacado poem/song to my brothers partner, and she loves it also.    she plays the guitar around the campfires etc, and was wondering if its ok with you if she plays (not recording) it.  and could you tell her your name so she can give you the credit for your cleverly witty song?

Therese

While I've parodied many songs over the years with our drama group, I can't claim credit for this one.

It can be found at http://www.amiright.com/parody/70s/theeagles103.shtml

To parody is actually very simple, because all the hard work of setting a rythm has been done for you. The trick is to write up the sacrificial song and then look for obvious changes. For example, off the top of my head...

Somewhere, over the rainbow near Dapto
Way up high out west
There’s a land farm that I've heard, where
Once in a lullaby Chooks have an extra leg.

Look for fun rhymes, and you'll find they start to write themselves.
