Chocolate
Copyright © Tom Chapman 2006

There's a lot of talk these days 'bout what we shouldn't eat,
How one thing or another makes a real unhealthy treat.
Pr'aps some is carcogenic or else some just puts on fat;
But let me tell you folks, I know that chocolate's where it's at.

In case you don't agree with me, well here's the explanation:
It's chocolate—dark and healthy—that has kept me from starvation.
Of course this needs explaining in a scientific way,
It needs some thought, so please take heed to what I have to say:

You'll get two hundred calories in a goodly little piece
And if you can control yourself you won't get too obese.
I have two pieces every day just after tea at night,
With extras on the weekend; but I'll show you that's all right.

That makes about three thousand calories in a single week,
And it's much nicer than a curry filled with fenugreek.
This means that every week I eat a half a kilo's worth.
It's not too much, it's just enough to keep a healthy girth.

And if we now extend this out to three and one half years,
We'll see why with the chocolate folk there's none that disappears.
For three and one half years adds up to ninety kilograms;
That's no concern, no need to fuss about your angiograms.

I weigh myself quite regular,  of kilos, seventy five.
Now take from that, the ninety, and you'll see why I'm alive.
If not for my chocolate  there'd now be nought to show,
I would have faded clean away some seven months ago.

Excellent theory!  (although it sounds a bit like feminine logic) Roll Eyes

I'll use that as my excuse next time I want some choccie, hang on, I think there's some smarties in the cupboard (I found where the kids hide yummies from me).  See ya later!
