Hi Andrew (Hully).  Really enjoyed your Gulargambone poem.  It reminded me that some years ago I wrote a poem for a celebration that was being held in the neighbouring town of Coonabarabran, so I dug it out.

COONABARABRAN

I've been Coonabarabranded
and there's no way I can leave
out here they brand us on our hearts
we wear them on our sleve.

It's not a painful branding
like the way we brand our steers
so if you think of moving here
then throw away your fears.

The country welcome we extend
is friendlier than most
It's an aura that surrounds you
like a happy, friendly ghost.

Our people smile much easier
than City people can
the happiest of people
come from Coonabarabran.

Just down the road a little way
the Warrumbungles soar
those mighty sentinels of stone
most people stand in awe.

They bring to mind our football teams
those men as tough as stone
especially when we travel out
to play Gulargambone.

So if you wish to travel
and DO travel if you can
you'll always dream of coming home
to Coonabarabran.

Sounds like a great place to be, Heyu!!
Where are these places? I can see I will have to go travelling over the east coast one day and check out all these places you people talk about.    Smiley
