Having lived in New Zealand for ten years I found that , in the main, the Maoris are a beautiful race of people.  A fairly carefree attitude and love to laugh, and they don't mind poking a bit of fun at themselves as well.
This is about one old Maori at the pearly gates.

IT USED TO BE HEAVEN

An old Maori bloke up to heaven went
and knocked on the pearly gate
St. Peter said to him "Gidday cuz
you're running a little bit late."

The old bloke said "It's a Maori thing
we never arrive right on time
and me mate who was driving the hearse got lost
but he didn't think that I'd mind."

"The Tangi got started before we arrived
with a bit of Lion Red going down
but they sent me off in true Maori style
there were 'cuzzies' from all over town."

St. Peter said "Now that you're here old mate
I'll show you the spot that is yours
a nice block of land with chickens and pigs
and it's right on the ocean shores."

"You can grow some nice kumeras, put in some corn
and you can also catch a few crays
or sit in the sun and strum your guitar
you'll be happy here, all of your days."

The Maori said "That all sounds pretty good
but there's something I don't understand
we already had all that down below
before the white man took over 'our Land'.
