Hi Does any one know if Frank Daniels website has changed? I have tried to go on to his site as www.bushpoetry.com.au and keep getting a message that the web page has been moved, or is not available. Thanks Irene

G'day Irene
I saw Frank at Corryong on the weekend. He is having a few problems with his website administrator at the moment and hopes to have the site back on line again in the not too distant future.

Thanks Peely.
How did the festival at Corryong go? Did you compete? If so, how did you go? Haven't heard any feed back about it as yet!
Would love to get over there one year - sounds like the atmosphere would be great, with lots to see and do.

G'day Irene
I really enjoyed my trip to Corryong this year. The Man from Snowy River Festival is probably the best one going in this part of Australia, as far as poetry is concerned.
I did compete this year. The standard of competition was extremely high, this festival attracts some of the best reciters in Australia. For me, it was my most successful performance competition since I started competing a couple of years ago. I managed to walk away with one of the encouragent awards. Some of the results that I can remember:
Clancy's Choice: Greg North (best male overall) Matilda Award: Betty Walton (best female overall) Man From Snowy River Recital: Greg North (1st), Alex Allitt (2nd) Don Anderson (3rd) Jack Riley Heritage Award: Peter Klein (1st), Jill Meehan (2nd), Maurie Foun (3rd) (poem, yarn or song - MFSR, Upper Murray or Jack Riley Theme) Aussie Comedy: Greg North (1st) (poem, yarn, song or skit) Original Song: Peter Klein (1st) Aussie Song: Peter Klein (1st) Original Poem (mens): Greg North (1st), Jim Brown (2nd), Col Milligan (3rd) Original Poem (womens): Annette Roberts (1st), Betty Walton (2nd), Judy Brindley (3rd) Aussie Poem (mens): Jim Brown (1st), Col Milligan (2nd), Greg North (3rd) Aussie Poem (womens): Lynette Molloy (1st), Betty Walton (2nd), Annette Roberts (3rd) Yarnspinning: Greg North (1st), Colin Carrington (3rd) Laurie Sheridan Encouragement: Peter Klein Encouragement: John Peel Senior Encouragement: Jack O'Connor Written Serious: Melanie Hall (1st), Ed Walker (2nd) Written Humorous: Brian Beesley (1st), Ed Walker (2nd)
Some of the other prize winners included: Colin Milligan, Annette Roberts, Alex Allitt won another award, Lynette Molloy. These are just the ones I can remember off the top of my head. Someone else might be able to add a few more names to this list, or remember what the awards were for some of the other reciters mentioned, or correct me if I have got any of the prizes given wrong.
Regards
John Peel

Thanks for the info Peely, and congratulations on your success!! Sounds like a really successful weekend for you. We don't have a lot of poetry events over here in the west, so one day after retirement (what's that?!? ) I would love to travel along the north and east coasts, and experience some of your festivals that seem to be so prolific over there!! And visit some of the places you all talk about!! And listen to all the poets I hear about!!! And .......... And.......... And I can but dream!!! Catchya IRene

irene, you could do a 'poets crawl' instead of a pub crawl, lol
stop off and visit all the fine poets here, stay a while, have a natter, enjoy their company and poetry, then move on to the next one!

I'll come back to this one tomorrow when the red has worn off. I suppose it can't be too bad seeing I am showing such restraint.
Cheers,

Hi All,
You know what......I saw Frank over the weekend and I didn't even think to ask about the site? Sorry. He's looking great by the way, and back to his previous standard of performance too. Great to see.
