The Bunny And The BB Gun

One day I went out shooting with
my little BB gun.
A cheeky rabbit sat up tall -
I thought I’d have some fun.

I’d shoot a bullet overhead
and watch that bunny hop
and then I’d fire another if
that rabbit dared to stop!

My little BB gun went bang!
That silly bunny froze -
he didn’t hop a single hop,
or twitch his twitchy nose!

Did I need specs, or maybe just
a bit more shooting practice?
The rabbit wasn’t frightened, ‘cos
the rabbit was a cactus!

Sorry about that.  It was just an exercise to try and post a picture and that's the only one hubbie had in photo bucket that I liked (I tried Flickr but couldn't figure out where to find the IMG thinggy???, but photo bucket was easy).  I just scribbed the poem to accompany the photo.  I took that photo while hubbie was gold detecting.  I find detecting ... not as interesting as he does ... so I take the camera and wander around and take photos of bugs and flowers and stuff (and delete them when I get home, but it gives me something to do). Grin

Did you know what a BB gun is Irene?  I wondered if anyone would know what that was because my hubbie is american and I heard that from him, and so I thought perhaps Aussies wouldn't know what it was - do we have them here too?

We call 'em slug guns here! I am interested to read that you had trouble with Flickr I had the same problem with it trying to post a photo, so that is why I have been just putting the lnks up...............that's all I could work out. Now you sheilas have made me feel a bit inadequate, when I get a bit of spare time I will try that photobucket, bloody Manfred pulled one of my photos out and posted it but he's a smart ar.......bloke with too much time on his hands,........ by the look of his avatars!

Near Melbourne, (in the olden days when I was young) we used both terms - BB and/or slug gun, as well as air rifle.

I'll have to look into this picture thing myself now. It seems like this is becoming as much a challenge here as writing verse.

Cheers

Tom.

G'day Tom,
seem to recall we used to call them 'Daisy Air Rifles' up here. Seems the Yanks held sway there as well...from around 1890, the Daisy Air Rifle was the best known and most produced air propellant gun/rifle in the world and many, perhaps most, referred to any such item as a "Daisy"...think the company may still be around to this day.

Remember, many, many years ago, they had a pretty fancy old German break action air rifle, [not an air gun, this one, which was strange considering its application], at the old local bush  pub which they used to fire small darts with coloured woolly flights at a ringed target board...there would be an uproar if anybody did that these days...

Remember the old BB caps for the pea rifle?...
                                                                  Cheers Mate,
                                                                              Bernie.
