Trevor Stewart came through the other day and we had a chat and were talking about how you get the buggers to pay if you are just setting up a happy hour session. I always tell them before I start and put an old billy can out so they can see. The other thing is keep the performance under an hour with a break at halftime where you can pass to billy around and have a bit of a chat . Seems to work for me. What do the rest of you bugger reckon.
I write because I can

I've done a few groups at the local caraban park Bob.
Some small groups (half a dozen vans) will hire you for an hour or so-although that can stretch if your're all having fun and just dont notice the time passing by-they will usually dip into their pockets and with any luck you'll pick up an easy hundred bucks. Other larger, more organised groups, if left to their own devices wont pay much more. John Peel and myself did an hour and a half last month for a Probus group who took the hat around and handed us a snaplock bag of gold coins-it amounted to one hundred and fifty-seventy five each. Im usually content to say well-its better than sitting at home watching telly and getting nothing but sometimes I just dont think much thought process is used when these larger groups book.
These days I cart my own speaker and microphone-set up-pack up-travel to and from and thats before you take into account the time spent writing, learning etc
Its just as well we love what we do.

I should add that Probus group consisted of sixty five-not much more than two dollars a head??
